O Grove

The O Grove Peninsula, tourist and sailor town, is settled on the Arousa River, and it is known as the “paradise of seafood.” O Grove is characterized for several protected areas: the Red Natura 2000 and the Laguna a Bodeira.

In addition to the natural areas and its 10 Km of beaches this town in the Rias Baixas, has an aquarium that is worth a visit. The O Grove Aquarium was reopened in Easter 2011. Its main points are to be a center point of entertainment for Galicia and also the central place for information of the Rías Baixas.

The Aqurium actually has over 100 different species and 1000 individual specimens, distributed in 28 tanks, the largest aquarium with over 250,000 liters of water (where the biggest species are found such as bull sharks, Carcharinus Taurus, Amberjack, Weriola dumereli, and smoothhounds, mustelus asterias, etc.) and a smaller tank with 500 litres, where travelers can see dog fish eggs, scyliorhinus canicula, and rays, along with baby shark dogfish.

Lanzada Beach

The Lanzada Beach is one of the best known beaches in Galicia and unites Sanxenxo and O Grove. The open sea and beach is located in a protected natural area that forms part of the Intertidal Umia and O Grove. Their importance is that it is a strategic stop for migratory waterfowl.

The Lanzada beach is the most important in O Grove and one of the most spectacular and beautiful in Galicia. It has 3 kilometers long and gives travelers the chance to see many different aspects and of the beach.

In O Grove travelers can practice surfing, windsurfing, and kite surfing on the Lanzada beach and also sailing, jet boating or rowing on the northern beaches of the peninsula.

A Toxa

The island of A Toxa in O Grove is known for its hot springs, spas and golf grounds.

The shrine of A Toxa, is dedicated to Saint Caralampio and the Virgin of Carmen it retains its cult since the 12th century, one of the most unique in Galicia. This is coated with designs of scallop shells, calls our attention at the center of the island. Its interior is modest and with a certain sailor.

The golf course dates to the end of the 60s and its facilities have been renovated look. It is surrounded by the waters of the Arosa River, giving it an incomparable beauty.
